Quick update: Shawna took me to Scotland to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was fantastic. Here are the photos we took. Slainte.

We moved to Plymouth, and are loving it here: we’re near to Shawna’s family; have a very short walk to cafes, restaurants, bars, music venues, and the ocean; can drive way out on Plymouth beach (w 4×4 permit) out of sight of other people; have great neighbors (the kind who introduce themselves, bearing gifts!); and are generally just really grateful to live in this place. Next weekend I’m heading to Vermont to say goodbye to Phish, then we’re heading to Scotland to explore and to celebrate my 30th birthday. Lauren and Steve’s wedding was great, Jamie and Susannah’s is coming up soon, Shawna is looking for work nearer to home, I’m working from home 2-3 days/week for upromise, my sister is recovering well from her surgery, my brother is cranking out beta releases for his secret software company, my parents are spending lots of time at the farm, and overall things are great. Just had another great weekend in Cutthunk, and am (finally) uploading some photos from that beautiful island, taken Memorial Day weekend. If Cuttyhunk isn’t the best place in Massachusetts, I don’t know what is. That’s it for now.

I spent an hour recording another song, inspired by the Dead’s Eyes of the World. Just two tracks, acoustic guitar, first takes. I call it Red Wine. The title comes from a fantastic weekend Shawna and I spent in Connecticut at the tiny ski house, with Joe and Melissa Cuccinelli, where we sampled all kinds of red wine, and I first played this song for other people. Other updates? Reading plenty, working hard, enjoying the welcome warmer weather, looking forward to splashing the boat in a couple weeks, and rooting for the Bruins to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Also check out ninjai, an amazing series of short animations, and reminder to keep swinging by sam brown’s site. Till next time.
